MGM Mirage Chief Design and Construction Officer Bobby Baldwin was recently awarded the 2008 “Advocate of the Year” title by the Nevada Chapter of the National Association of Minority Contractors.
The award goes to individuals who display “ethical leadership, business excellence and consistent results,” according to a statement from MGM Mirage.
Baldwin heads up the construction team behind CityCenter, the Las Vegas meta-resort expected to open in late 2009. Baldwin is responsible for the more than $220 million in contracts granted to minority, women and disadvantaged businesses that are working on CityCinter.
“Participation by diverse contractors at CityCenter will set a new precedent for the entire construction industry and much of this success can be attributed to the leadership of MGM Mirage, especially Bobby Baldwin, who is a true visionary,” said Dick Rizzo, chairman of Perini Building Company, the firm overseeing the construction of CityCenter.
