Twelve-year Shuffle Master executive David Lopez was named interim CEO of the company. He will replace former interim CEO Phillip Peckman, who took the position after the death of CEO Tim Parrott.
Lopez will also keep his current title of chief operating officer and serve on Shuffle Master’s board of directors. Industry insiders suspect that this new title may become a permanent one. They state that since Lopez has worked his way up in the company, his learning curve will be quite short. They also feel he has industry-wide respect.
Meanwhile independent director Garry Saunders, who had been serving as interim chairman of the board, was promoted to permanent chairman.
“David has proven to be a dedicated and effective leader since joining Shuffle Master, said Saunders in a statement. “His thorough knowledge of our business and the gaming industry make him uniquely capable of leading the company during this transition period.”
