Italy accounts for 9 percent of all the gaming in the world, according to a report by Marco Felice Baranzelli, a former casino manager and current gaming industry consultant.
Baranzelli also says that Italian players average the worldÆs largest per-capita spend. He cites technological advances and increased internationalization as prime drivers for the trend toward continued growth in the sector.
New slots and innovations in online gaming and especially sports betting, with developing features like in-match betting, are expected to help push the Italian market to more than Ç61 billion risked annually by 2010. That figure is a 45 percent increase over 2007.
