Grainne Hurst Named CEO of U.K.’s Betting and Gaming Council

The U.K. Betting and Gaming Council has a new CEO. Grainne Hurst, whose appointment was announced April 8, has committed to protecting consumers and fighting for safer gambling.

BGC’s membership includes more than 90 percent of the U.K.’s regulated betting and gaming industry.

Hurst comes to the position from many years experience as a senior executive in the regulated gaming market, most recently as group corporate affairs director for Entain, where she was for 10 years. She also helped found the international arm of Global Gaming Women, where she is a board member.

She serves on the board of the Entain Foundation, where she helped craft the company’s global safer gambling strategy titled “Changing for the Bettor.”

The current CEO, Michael Dugher, will become chairman of the board, replacing outgoing Chairman Brigid Simmonds OBE.
