This is the latest title on Konami’s new KP3 platform, in a game series known as MultipleLines 4-5-5-5-4. The numbers refer to the unique reel setup. Instead of the standard three or four symbols per reel, the setup offers four symbols on each of the outer reels and five symbols on each of the three middle reels.
Glacier Ridge Riches is a 100-line game. The forced minimum bet is 50 credits, which activates all the paylines—each credit buys two lines.
The base game includes Konami’s trademark “Action Stacked Symbols” on all five reels. Randomly at the beginning of a spin, one of the main game symbols replaces the symbols on several reel spots to form a cluster of adjacent winning symbols—increasing winning combinations and the chances of activating the bonus feature.
The main feature is a multi-level bonus game employing a skill factor. It starts with the “Re-Spin Feature.” One or more penguin symbols trigger four re-spin games. Reels displaying a penguin symbol are nudged until the entire reel shows the penguin. That becomes a wild reel, and all other reels are respun four times. Other reels can become wild during the other three spins. If the penguin symbol appears on all five reels, the player advances Glacier Ridge Riches feature. An arctic scene appears with pile of coins sitting on various glaciers, and rows of individual coins—it looks a lot like a classic video game screen. The first and second stages allow the player to launch a ball into the scene and try to hit one of the stacks or the
coins, the object being to collect as many coins as possible. The player can adjust the play angle before the ball is launched, and the timing skill used to launch the ball will affect the coins rewarded.
The final “Wheel Stage” displays a giant wheel with pockets between the spokes; each pocket displays a range of credits. The player launches a ball into the pockets to achieve a multiple of the number of credits collected during the Glacier Ridge Riches feature. The award can be multiplied form 2X to 5X, depending on the pocket in which the ball lands.
