FAR AND WIDE

The July 2023 edition of the Game Performance Report produced by Eilers & Krejcik Gaming and Fantini Research, which compiled data from approximately 391,000 slots, included a game distribution breakdown for North America.

According to the report, U.S. commercial casinos unsurprisingly accounted for just under a third (32.3 percent) of the total game count in July, followed by 24.6 percent for U.S. tribal casinos and 21.3 percent for U.S. route operations.

The Canadian market, as a whole, accounted for a combined 16.5 percent, as Canadian casinos and video lottery terminal (VLT) route operations came in at 8.8 percent and 7.7 percent, respectively.

The two smallest segments in the market were cruise ships (3.8 percent) and historical horse racing (HHR) casinos (1.8 percent), but HHR in particular is expected to grow in coming years as a number of markets across the South and Midwest have moved to legalize the games.
