Dan Wade Named to Lead Tropicana Las Vegas

It’s a reunion of sorts at the Tropicana Las Vegas. Former MGM Grand Chairman and CEO Alex Yemenidjian, who serves as chairman, CEO and president of the partnership that owns the 1,375-room hotel-casino, has hired a former MGM executive as president and COO of the property.

Daniel Wade, who served as chief operating officer and later vice chairman of MGM Mirage (now MGM Resorts International) from 1999 to 2006, has been hired to replace Tom McCarthy, who was let go several months ago. Since leaving MGM, Wade has been involved with a company that was going to build a replica of New York’s Plaza Hotel on land opposite Wynn Las Vegas. Before MGM he held executive positions at the Desert Inn Hotel and Casino, at Harrah’s in Reno and in Atlantic City, and at the Maxim Hotel and Casino.

The Tropicana Las Vegas is a stand-alone company with no relation to any other Tropicana property.
