Caesars Entertainment announced that the Uruguayan government has agreed to extend the company’s gaming license in the country.
The extension allows Las Vegas-based Caesars to continue to operate the casino at the Conrad Punta Del Este Resort & Casino through 2036. The property is located in the coastal resort town of the same name.
The original license was set to expire in 2016.
“We are very pleased that the Uruguayan government has extended our gaming license, allowing us to continue operating the largest private casino in Latin America,” said Jorge Serna, vice president and general manager of Conrad Punta Del Este Resort & Casino. “We look forward to continuing to provide a first-class experience to our guests.”
Since opening in January 1997, the Conrad has been a significant contributor to the economic growth and development of Uruguay by attracting many international visitors and hosting large-scale international conventions.
The resort employs more than 2,000 people, making it one of the largest private employers in the country.
