Tom Ballance has been named the new president and chief operating officer for Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City.
Ballance currently serves as Borgata’s senior vice president of administration. He joined the company in 1998 as vice president of development. Prior to that, Ballance worked for 17 years at Harrah’s Atlantic City in a variety of operations and development positions.
Ballance will report to Bob Boughner, executive vice president and chief business development officer of Boyd Gaming Corporation, who has served as president of Borgata since it opened in 2003. According to the company, Boughner will “play an expanded role,” as Boyd Gaming prepares to complete the acquisition of Peninsula Gaming, a company with casinos in the Midwest and South. Boyd said in May it was interested in buying Peninsula for $1.45 billion.
