Ameristar Casinos vs. Black Hawk Residents

Residents of Black Hawk, Colorado, are not very happy about Ameristar Casinos’ resort project in the town. The legislature voted to expand gambling into the town as a way of drawing tourists and preserving the historic nature of the area, but locals think the large hotel will be an eyesore. Ameristar CEO Gordon Kanofsky said residents are romanticizing the pre-casino town. Prior to construction of his casino, Black Hawk was small and run-down, Kanofsky said.
