The American Gaming Association, noting that gaming is growing in national importance, has published a brochure informing voters of which candidates support the gaming industry.
The association says direct gaming taxes make up 47 percent of Nevada’s general fund revenue, contribute $53 billion to the state’s economy, support 425,000 jobs and generate nearly $8 billion in tax revenue.
“Gaming is the lifeblood of Nevada’s economy,” association Vice President of Public Affairs Sara Rayme said.
“Candidates seeking votes in Nevada shouldn’t be averse to stepping foot inside a casino because they don’t like gambling,” she said. “The reality is that embracing casino gaming will boost, not hurt, a candidate’s campaign.”
Earlier this year, the gaming association launched its first-ever “Gaming Votes” initiative to educate candidates about the gaming industry and inform gaming employees about the candidates as they visit their respective states.
The gaming association compiled the voter guide to share with gaming employees, providing polling data showing 90 percent of American voters approve of gaming.
