Great Canadian Casino Company Plans On Hold
The Great Canadian Casino Company has put plans on hold to expand several of its 17 casinos in British Columbia, including one in downtown Nanaimo, until 2010. The company planned a 23,000-square-foot addition to the Nanaimo property, as well as replacing the original casino with a new 22,000-square-foot building. “We are pushing most of our projects into 2010, so any work that was going to commence in 2009 has been moved into the next year, given the uncertainty in the bond and debt markets in the United States and in Canada,” spokesman Howard Blank told the Daily News.
