Environment Blamed For Delay

By GGB Staff   Tue, Dec 23, 2008

Various Hungarian websites are reporting that the long-awaited EuroVegas project, planned for Hungary near the border with Austria and Slovakia, might not make its mandatory deadline for the start of operations. The speculation is that Austria could call for an environmental impact study before work on the €700 million project can begin.
The original agreement between the developer and the Hungarian government stipulates that the first casino must begin operating by November 1, 2010. Construction was at one time expected to begin in April 2008.
As many as five casinos plus hotels and other amenities have been rumored since the project was first discussed in 2001.
