NYRA Launches Mobile-Phone Wagering
The New York Racing Association has launched a program to allow members of its rewards club to wager on races via mobile phone or PDA devices.
The system, called “mWager,” was supplied by Sona Mobile Holdings Corporation. It allows members of the NYRA Rewards club to view race program information including odds, scratches, etc., for each live or simulcast race offered. Other functions include race results, account balance and wagering history.
“This new mobile wagering application will give our customers a new level of wagering privacy and convenience by giving them the ability to wager on a platform that offers real-time racing and wagering information anywhere, anytime on their own mobile device,” said Charles Hayward, NYRA president and chief executive officer.
The mWager program will add functionality on Blackberry and Apple iPhone devices in the coming weeks.
