Multiple Bidders Show Up for Last Missouri Casino License

15 Want to Show Show-Me-State

Missouri's 13th and final casino license will be up for grabs after July 1, and last month the state's gaming commission received 15 letters of interest from developers and cities which want the license.

The Missouri Gaming Commission was slated to meet May 18 in Jefferson City with those who have shown interest and find out how long they will need to submit concrete proposals.

Several potential bidders want to bring a casino to Cape Girardeau. St. Louis also has several letters of interest from developers, including Isle of Capri, based in St. Louis, and Jim Koman, president of Koman Properties, which owns the Casino Queen in East St. Louis, Illinois, although Koman is acting independently of the Casino Queen.

The license has become available because Pinnacle Entertainment was pressured to close its President riverboat casino in St. Louis.
