Michael J. Anderson last month announced the formation of Anderson Indian Law, which begins operation immediately. The firm focuses on federal Indian law and represents American Indian tribal governments on their regulatory, legislative and litigation interests before Congress, federal agencies and courts. The firm will operate with a nationwide client base served by two attorneys and two staff members. 

Anderson previously served as a co-partner of AndersonTuell, LLP with Loretta Tuell, who was recently appointed as the chief counsel and staff director of the U.S. Senate Committee on Indian Affairs. Anderson previously served as deputy assistant secretary of Indian Affairs at the U.S. Department of Interior from 1995 to 2001 and associate solicitor for Indian Affairs at the department from 1993 to 1995. He has also worked for the U.S. Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, Special Committee on Investigations and served as executive director of the National Congress of American Indians. Anderson is an enrolled member of the Muscogee Nation.
