Caesars, Barrière Join Forces for WSOPE
The annual World Series of Poker Europe is moving from London to Cannes. The change involves a newly forged cooperation between two of the biggest brands in casino gaming in their respective countries.
World Series of Poker operator Caesars Interactive Entertainment, which also offers online gaming to players in regulated jurisdictions, is a subsidiary of U.S.-based Caesars Entertainment Corporation. The French partner is Lucien Barrière Hôtels & Casinos and that group’s online operator, BarrierePoker.fr. The companies have announced they will be cooperating to offer land-based and online poker events throughout France.
Mitch Garber, CEO of Caesars Interactive Entertainment, said in a press release, “This is a unique agreement between two casino leaders with great brands. Lucien Barrière Hôtels & Casinos is a well-run organization, and we are excited to work with them to access the French market with high-quality and reputable poker events both in their hotels and casinos, and online with BarrierePoker.fr.”
Dominique Desseigne, CEO of Groupe Lucien Barrière, said, “This alliance backs our powerful synergy strategy between offline and online gaming, and it is an honor to associate ourselves with the most prestigious poker tournament in the world.”
A new schedule of qualifying events will be built into the Barrière Poker Tour 2011. Players will have the chance to win seats in the main event at seven Barrière properties.
