Fast Count

Currency, check and coin-handling equipment supplier Cummins-Allison recently introduced the JetScan iFX i400 multi-pocket sorter. Configurable from three to nine pockets in the same compact space, the JetScan iFX i400 is “the most flexible and user-configurable multi-pocket sorter on the market,” according to the company.

The JetScan iFX i400 utilizes imaging technology that provides ultra-fast read rates. The company reports that recent tests showed the unit processes currency at 1,000 notes per minute, resulting in higher throughput at a 39 percent faster speed than the closest competitive unit.

The iFX i400’s initial pocket configuration is joined by user-customizable operating software to accommodate workflows or different processing operations. From a base unit of three pockets, additional two-pocket modules can be added to create five-pocket, seven-pocket or nine-pocket systems, now or in the future. The unique space-saving vertical configuration, which uses 64 percent less space than competitive devices, effectively provides a high-volume, multi-pocket sorter in a footprint barely larger than a desktop two-pocket device.

Additionally, ease of use is promoted through operating modes or pocket configurations that can be changed with the touch of a button using an intuitive, touch-screen display.

“Decades of industry experience and customer feedback drove the development of this powerful, yet easy-to-operate product,” comments Curtis Hallowell, vice president of product management at Cummins-Allison. “No other multi-pocket sorter offers as much technology and flexibility in this small of a footprint and at a competitive cost.”

The iFX i400 features a continuous feed hopper, which holds up to 800 notes and can be filled as the machine is running, as well as a beltless full-access transport path that ensures fewer jams and less downtime. If jams do occur, strategically placed doors allow unobtrusive front access to the full path.
