Harrah’s: We’ll stay anyway
Harrah’s Entertainment plans to stay on in the U.K. even now that the super-casino is a dead issue, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal.
The U.S.-based giant broke into the U.K. market in 2006 when it purchased London Clubs International. The company has opened four more U.K. casinos since, including the more upbeat Casino at the Empire in London and Alea Glasgow in Scotland.
Harrah’s Senior Vice President Jan Jones said the company will be going after some of the 16 new licenses recently resubmitted to Parliament, should that measure be approved.
Meanwhile, Las Vegas Sands and MGM Mirage will not participate in the U.K. now that the super-casino is off the table.
